A short diversion is now in place on a section of the Cateran Trail at Blackcraig Forest due to the nesting activity of protected birds.

The diversion, which is the same length of the previously signed route, guides walkers onto a forest road with a good quality surface for approximately 3 kilometres.

Following damage caused by Storm Arwen, Forest and Land Scotland have been carrying out work around the forest to remove fallen and dangerous trees. The discovery of protected bird species in the area has necessitated the temporary route change.

Forest and Land Scotland have also contacted the organisers of known events making use of the trail in the coming weeks to advise of the changes.

A map of the diversion can be accessed HERE.
