Nature Summit Celebrates Conservation Projects Nature enthusiasts from across the region packed into Perth Civic Hall on Wednesday for a nature restoration summit celebrating some of the region’s best conservation and biodiversity projects. Organised by Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust, the gathering brought together communities, organisations, and individuals involved with the Nature Connections Partnership P&K (NCPPK), to hear about a range of innovative and ambitious projects across Perthshire and central Scotland working on combatting climate change, nurturing native species, and protecting wildlife. Over 80 delegates attended the ever-popular biannual event to hear presentations on river restoration, plantations on ancient woodlands, and the rewilding activities on several Perthshire estates. David Tollick (PKCT) who organised the event said: There are some fantastic nature recovery projects underway here in Perth and Kinross but there is still much that we can do to safeguard the future of our environment. Sharing our experiences and getting to know others is one of the most effective ways of spreading best practice and ensuring our nature restoration efforts thrive. We grateful to all the speakers who gave presentations and also to all those who attended. It was heartening to hear the enthusiasm and ambition of those in the room, and I look forward to seeing what exciting nature restoration projects arise in future. The conference also marked the end of David Tollick’s tenure as Conservation Officer for Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust. Jen Davidson, who is assuming the Conservation Officer role said: “David has been a fixture of nature focused projects across Tayside and beyond for many years. He has done a fantastic job of bringing together individuals and organisations motivated by conservation. He has been the driving force behind the Nature Connections Partnership P&K, and instrumental in organising this event and many others. On behalf of all those who attended the event, I would like to thank him for everything he has done to celebrate and promote nature, and wish him the best in his retirement.
