Cutting once every September keeps it in tip-top condition for nature. Having missed a cut for several years, Perth & Kinross Countryside Trust helped organise a cut for 2024 with a local farmer. The cut is collected and removed off-site to keep the meadow in good condition. Traditionally this would have been made into hay. Many thanks to the landowner, to NatureScot and to local nature enthusiasts for their support See this report on Scotland's grasslands by Plantlife-Scotland - Final-Plantlife-Report-Machair-to-meadows-making-the-most-of-Scotlands__-grasslands.pdf A local farmer cuts the flower-rich grassland meadow at Weem near Aberfeldy Three Farms report Three local farms have been engaged with us for over 12 months now, to discuss their interest in species rich grassland, and the opportunities and issues in their management.
