Phase 3 of the Comrie towards Baird's Monument active travel route is the design and delivery of the path surfacing works as well as fencing, gates, field entrances and tree/hedge planting.

The structural works in Phase 2 need to be completed before this phase can start on the ground in order to ensure construction access to the railway embankment. Starting the path works from a central point and moving out east and west from this first section avoids damage to newly laid path works.

Landowners have specific requirements for the path infrastructure and surfacing, and these requirements form the basis of the path agreements. In addition, different funders also have specific requirements which aim to secure the longevity and suitability of the path and structural work.

As with Phase 2 of the project, planning permission was gained in November 2022 but has since elapsed and is being re-applied for.

Funding applications to carry out detailed design work have also been submitted.
