Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust (PKCT) has been working with volunteers from the Rannoch Paths & Open Spaces Group (RPOSG) for over 10 years to identify and improve village paths. In December 2019, work began to investigate ways to improve the Riverside Path following successful application to the cycling and walking charity Sustrans.
Engineers from Cycling Scotland’s Transport Planning & Engineering Ltd (TP&E) were appointed to commence the feasibility and design work. Since then, PKCT and TP&E have worked in partnership to find a way to upgrade the Riverside Path and linking other paths from east to west and from the village square by providing a gradient solution to the difficult access at the site of the old toilet block. Annie Benson of RPOSG has carried out substantial community consultation during this time to formally record the views of the community and visitors and to demonstrate the ongoing desire for more accessible paths.
