Role

SCVO working in partnership with Inclusion Scotland are creating and supporting paid internship opportunities for disabled people within third sector organisations.

Eligibility

  • define as a disabled person under the Equality Act 2010: “someone who has a physical or mental impairment that has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on his or her ability to carry out normal every day activities.”
  • be unemployed or under-employed

Internship overview

Since it was established in 1997, PKCT has carried out dozens of countryside access and conservation projects. These projects have ranged in size from ones lasting a week or two and costing a few hundred pounds to five-year long projects costing £2.6 million. These projects have generated a large number of files and images but these are not very well organised.

The Archive Intern will help us design and implement a new archive system to organise our files and image library

Main duties and tasks

With support from the Trust Manager and staff team, you will research, design and implement a new filing and database system to organise PKCT’s project archive and image library.

Delivering this project will include:

  • Importing the PKCT image library into Adobe Lightroom and organising the images in a consistent way by renaming the images and tagging them with data such as date and location so they can be located quickly using the Lightroom search function.

  • Setting up an Access database to record key details of our projects such as location, date, partner organisations, funders and a summary of the work carried out so we can quickly and easily check where, when and with whom we have worked before.

  • Developing and implementing a filing protocol so all of PKCT’s electronic files are named and organised in a consistent way.

  • Writing an Archive Manual for use by PKCT staff that sets out how the files and image library are organised, how new files should be named and stored and how to use the project database.

To undertake such other duties as may be assigned by the Trust’s Executive Committee
