The River Tay Way is a proposed walking and cycling route that will begin in Kenmore and follow the course of the River Tay (approx. 50 miles / 80 km each) via the communities of Aberfeldy, Grandtully, Dunkeld and Birnam, Murthly, Stanley and Luncarty eventually ending in Perth.

The Supporting the River Tay Way Scheme is creating a way for businesses and accommodation providers along proposed River Tay Way to contribute towards the development, improvement and maintenance of the new walking and cycling route.

HOW IT WORKS

Other than a bit of staff time, there are no costs to you.

There are many ways in which accommodation providers and businesses can collect donations from their guests / visitors. For example, they can:

  • Add a voluntary donation (e.g. £1) per night to guest’s bills
  • Add a voluntary donation per person to guest’s food bills,
  • Add a voluntary donation to each activity booked, or
  • Have a River Tay Way display with a donations box for guest contributions.
  • Add a voluntary donation to each cup of hot beverage,

If the visitor does not want to donate, they can simply ‘opt out’.

PKCT also welcomes donations direct from accommodation providers and businesses themselves on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis as part of their contribution towards the Supporting the River Tay Way scheme.

Donations are paid to PKCT at the end of each quarter.

THE BENEFITS

Demonstrate your green credentials to your guests / visitors in a tangible way they can see and experience for themselves.

Additional publicity for your business.

Contribute to ensuring that the landscape around your hotel, B&B or business provides an easily accessible, high quality experience for your guests / visitors.

OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU

We will work with staff to inform them of the aims of the scheme so that they can promote it to guests and organise familiarisation trips for them to see the River Tay Way.

We will keep you informed about the projects being carried out across the River Tay Way via a quarterly newsletter.

We will work with you to generate PR and positive media around your support for our environmental work.

MATCH FUNDING

For every £1 we receive towards the River Tay Way, we will be able to obtain match funding for our projects. This means that with your donations we can carry out twice the amount of project work across the route.

If your business would like to join the Supporting the River Tay Way Scheme, please get in touch with our Trust Director, Peter Quinn, who would be delighted to meet with you and answer any questions you may have.
