Ballathie House Hotel & Estate

Ballathie House Hotel is putting its best green foot forward to help look after Perthshire’s extraordinary trees by joining the Supporting Perthshire Big Tree Country scheme.

The scheme, run by Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust (PKCT), allows hotels, B&Bs and businesses of all sizes to help conserve Perthshire’s tree heritage by collecting voluntary donations from their guests or visitors which go towards enhancing Perthshire Big Tree Country (PBTC).

Perthshire Big Tree Country is managed by PKCT and comprises over 200,000 acres of woodlands and more champion trees than anywhere else in the UK. Together these create Scotland's most spectacular trees and woodlands, where there are lots of different experiences to discover and enjoy.

Ballathie will collect donations of £0.25 per person for every meal served to support PKCT’s efforts to preserve Perthshire’s tree heritage and enhance access to this unique part of Perthshire’s landscape.

John Milligan, owner of Ballathie House Hotel & Estate, said:

Ballathie Country House Hotel & Estate welcomes guests from all over the globe and many are drawn to Perthshire by our stunning scenery.  Myself and all of our Team here at Ballathie are delighted to partner with the Countryside Trust and offer our support to Perthshire Big Tree Country which is we are lucky to have on our doorstep.

Peter Quinn, PKCT’s Trust Director, commented:

Ahead of National Tree Week starting next week, it is really heart-warming to have Ballathie sign up to help support Perthshire Big Tree Country and help make a difference towards getting people into and enhancing the natural environment we all are so lucky to have here in Perthshire.

Money raised from their guests will help us improve access to Perthshire Big Tree Country sites for everyone, look after the trees therein, refresh interpretation at those sights, educate about the importance of trees in today’s climate emergency, and much, much more.

Since its launch in 2007 at Gleneagles, the Supporting Perthshire Big Tree Country scheme has raised over £350,000 towards conservation and access project works. Other members of the scheme currently include Dunkeld House Hotel, Crieff Hydro and Gleneagles.
