Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust (PKCT) welcomes its first marketing intern, Courtney Cooper, to its team.

Courtney will help the team develop new and engaging marketing and interpretation for the River Tay Way and Cateran Trail

She will also be involved in the development of new maps, signage, leaflets and route markers that will help residents and visitors get the most out of the local countryside.

As PKCT’s Marketing Intern, she will also help with messaging regarding conservation, climate change, biodiversity, forestry, and local nature initiatives.

Courtney commented:

I am really excited to get the chance to work in the amazing Perthshire countryside! I know from first-hand experience how good interpretation can make such a difference to visitor experiences by giving people a little extra information to appreciate, respect and enjoy the site they’re in.

Peter Quinn, PKCT Trust Manager, said:

We are very happy to welcome Courtney to our team for the next six months, especially given her previous work achieving her degree in Environment Management. She will help us develop a new generation of interpretation and marketing legacies to help us with our aims of making Perthshire’s countryside enjoyable, educational and treasured by everyone.

PKCT is an independent charity that negotiates access to land, builds paths, helps care for the countryside and undertakes conservation projects all to improve and promote access to the countryside for walker, cyclists and horse riders. It manages Perthshire Big Tree Country, the Cateran Trail, Perthshire Conifer Conservation Programme, and Perthshire Conifer Conservation Programme; is developing the River Tay Way; and works with communities.

Courtney’s internship is being funded by Graduate Career Advantage Scotland (GCAS) – a new initiative which supports recent, eligible graduates living in Scotland to find rewarding employment. It is in turn funded by the Scottish Funding Council and the Scottish Government. www.gcas.co.uk
