Latest News Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust welcomes new Trustee Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust (PKCT) is pleased to welcome its newest Trustee Alex Cairncross. Born and raised in Perth, Alex has a long history of working in the charitable sector, which has taken her across the world. She currently serves as a Deputy Lieutenant of Perth and Kinross and Chairman of The Jimmie Cairncross Charitable Trust. PKCT is an independent charity that negotiates access to land, builds paths, helps care for the countryside and undertakes conservation projects all to improve and promote access to the countryside for walker, cyclists and horse riders. It manages Perthshire Big Tree Country, the Cateran Trail, the River Tay Way and Perthshire Nature Connections Partnership, as well as works with communities. PKCT’s Trustees are charged with contributing towards the promotion, conservation, and future of the countryside and natural heritage of Perth and Kinross. Alex commented: PKCT has been improving Perth and Kinross’ countryside for nearly 25 years, and I am thrilled to now be a part of it and in the future. As part of my role as Deputy Lieutenant of Perth and Kinross, I’m leading on the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative in the area and very much believe that the conservation and biodiversity work of PKCT will lend itself well to realising this tree planting scheme to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. PKCT’s Chairman of the Board, Cedric Wilkins, said of the appointment: We are very excited to welcome Alex to our Board given her years of charitable work experience. It adds a fresh, new talent to our already exceptional range of skills and knowledge across the staff and existing Trustees. We look forward to working with her as we move into 2022.
