Alyth’s stunning countryside is going to be more accessible for the local community and visitors thanks to a big funding boost.

Almost £13,000 of funding will help increase accessibility to 550 m of the Cateran Trail near Alyth Hill and create an 800 m vital path link with signage through a wooded area of Bamff Estate’s earmarked area for new, free to use, publicly accessible walking trails.

The funding has been awarded by Avondale Environmental as part of the NPL Group through the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund.

The projects will be managed by Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust (PKCT), who manage the Cateran Trail and are working in partnership with Bamff Estate and Alyth Development Trust to free public access for recreation and education across the Estate in line with biodiversity and climate change mitigating projects and ambitions on the Estate, including rewilding.

By improving access to the countryside around Alyth, we hope that visitor numbers will grow year on year, which will have great knock on effects for the mental and physical health and wellbeing of visitors as well as for the local tourism economy.
